A confidence interval for a mean (average) is calculated as mean ± t*standard error. The t and standard error are the statistical parts. The value of t depends on how big a confidence interval is desired. By convention, we usually use a 95% confidence interval. This corresponds to a p-value of 0.05. The clinical part is the average.
